Having worked at Lilly in Neupotz, Stefan Echle (service) and Matthis Nowak (kitchen) have found their new vocation – in the vaulted cellar of the separately run Villa Königsgarten hotel (formerly Diehl winery). A few steps lead down from the courtyard, home to a leafy terrace in summer, to the restaurant. As you make your way to the dining area, you can take a peek into the glass-fronted kitchen to see the chefs creating their modern seasonal set menu, which offers a choice of options for each course. Named after a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm (The Lying Goat), the restaurant has a modern, elegant interior with a historical touch. Great service comes courtesy of a friendly and well-trained front-of-house team. The idyllic location in a village surrounded by vineyards, at the foothills of the Palatinate Forest, offers endless possibilities for excursions.
