Discreetly tucked away in Shepherd Market, it's easy to miss the entrance to the earnestly run Maru. As with many a good sushi restaurant, the high quality of the produce helps provide plenty of flavour; the ingredients are largely British, including seafood from Cornish waters. The menu takes an omakase approach, made up of around 20 different servings, and the sake pairing makes for a good accompaniment. There are two sittings at dinner, so arrive on time; you pay when you book.
