River North and West Loop often steal the spotlight, but charming Hyde Park shouldn't be overlooked when it comes to fine dining, and Roux is just one of the reasons. This modern space is kitted out with white marble bistro tables and spindle chairs, while soothing colors and stunning floral arrangements lend warmth.  
Chef Charlie McKenna hails from South Carolina but Roux is rooted in New Orleans classics. Snack on fiery pimento cheese with fried saltines or deviled eggs while perusing the all-day supper menu with favorites like shrimp and grits and chicken fried steak. Of course, there must be grits, and you can get yours covered (with cheese), chunked (with thick-cut bacon), country (with sausage gravy), capped (with mushrooms) or smothered (with caramelized onions).
